Ryedale Youth Theatre 2024
Ryedale Youth Theatre was formed in 1991 and is a voluntary organization (registered charity no. 1053362). The main purpose of our work is to train young people (age 8-18) in the Ryedale and York areas in all aspects of the performing arts, in particular musical theatre, both on stage and behind the scenes.
Baby Boom at Youth Theatre
Ryedale Youth Theatre will be gaining some new company members in a few years time when the three babies pictured here with their mothers and the youth theatre members make their stage debuts with this long established Youth Theatre company. Rehearsals were paused for several weeks when three key members of the team took time out to be with their new arrivals. Choreographer Lauren Hood had a baby son, Musical Director Rachael Clarke, a baby daughter and Producer/Director Chloe Shipley also had a son. The cast of the forthcoming show “The Wizard of Oz” met the babies when rehearsals resumed early in February. There is one more baby to come, Choreographer Rachel Morris is also having a baby, which is due after the show.
Despite the rehearsal break everything is coming together nicely and the hard working cast are looking forward to being back on stage in the Milton Rooms to tell the much loved story of Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow and their journey along the yellow brick road to meet the Wizard of Oz.
